Green Bay Botanical Garden is an acclaimed nonprofit botanical garden, established at 2626 Larsen Road, Green Bay, Wisconsin. It’s open every day except in the cooler months; an annual admission is required. It’s a great place to learn about plants and try new varieties. The mission of the Garden is “to educate and preserve the natural heritage of our Earth”. It is a not for profit organization. There are beautiful gardens to admire along with lots of different shows and activities.
The mission statement says the Botanical Gardens were founded by E.C. Johnson, a German scientist. He found that all the species of a particular genus could be named by observing its habits on seeds. His work also showed that all the plants of the world had evolved from a common ancestor. Johnson went on to show that all living things are the results of evolution, and all animals are the results of eating or breeding with other animals. It took until 1960 for his ideas to gain public attention and the botanical garden was established.
